Julie Nolan - Program Coordinator

 

Julie has a passion for education.  She has served for many years in the Annapolis community volunteering with youth educational programs.  Julie is in her third year as the Annapolis Symphony Academy Program Coordinator.  Before joining the Annapolis Symphony Staff, she was a homeschool educator for over 14 years.  Her daughter is currently studying violin performance at the Peabody Conservatory on a talent scholarship and is also enrolled in the dual degree program at Johns Hopkins University studying molecular biology.  Her middle son is a freshman at MIT, and her youngest son attends the Key School in Annapolis. 

 

Before homeschooling her children, Julie worked as a civilian in Naval Intelligence for 14 years.  Beginning as an intelligence analyst, she moved up through the ranks to operational management.  Julie spent many years negotiating international intelligence exchange agreements with foreign governments and traveled extensively in both Europe and Asia.  She deployed to Haiti with the 10th Mountain Division in support of Operation Uphold Democracy.  Julie worked with the Office of Legislative Affairs for all intelligence-related Congressional visits for both the U.S Atlantic Command and the U.S. Pacific Command. In her last assignment, she served in the Pentagon on the staff of the Director of Naval Intelligence, where she provided direct guidance and justification to the Navy as well as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff regarding Naval and Joint Intelligence budgets.  Julie is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington with degrees in both Business and International Relations with graduate studies at the Naval War College and Old Dominion University.
