What is the Virtuoso Pathway?​

This is our most comprehensive music education approach, and includes everything the Academy has to offer. Virtuoso develops, accelerates, and promotes excellent musical skills in children and youth by providing:

1. Sixteen one-on-one weekly private lessons per semester from our outstanding faculty of leading Annapolis Symphony Orchestra musicians.

2. Ensemble or orchestra assignment. Each student will be assigned to one of the following Chamber Music Ensembles or Youth Orchestras: Lyra Chamber Music Ensembles, Aries Youth Chamber Orchestra, Aquarius Wind Ensemble or Orion Youth Orchestra.

3. Performance opportunities: studio (group) classes, end-of-semester individual evaluation, recitals, and performances with assigned chamber music group or youth orchestra.

4. In-program Competitions and Challenges.

What are weekly private lessons, and why are they important?

Weekly private lessons are one-on-one, individualized sessions with our faculty of leading Annapolis Symphony Orchestra musicians. Private lessons taught by a professional musician are the only avenue to advance a students' individual playing skills. In their lesson, students work on technique and repertoire appropriate for their playing level, and our teachers assist students with their chamber music or orchestral parts and provide support, encouragement, and mentorship.

Who qualifies for Virtuoso?

1) You are a talented, driven young string, wind, brass, or percussion player looking to get the most out of your musical training. Winds, Brass and Percussion private lessons will be added in the future*.

How can I audition for Virtuoso?

Current members of the Annapolis Symphony Academy will not be required to re-audition for Virtuoso.

 

New applicants, follow this simple process:

1) Fill out our Application Form.

2) Sign up for an In-Person audition or submit a Virtual Audition. Audition Information Available Here.

3) We will notify you of the audition results and your placement in our programs.

Tuition and Fees

Administrative fee*: $100

Tuition (10 monthly payments per academic year): 

60-Minute lessons - $360 per month

45-Minute lessons -$280 per month

30-Minute lessons - $200 per month

 

Lesson length is determined by age and playing level.

Advanced winds, brass, and percussion students already studying with a private teacher are encouraged to apply to our high level, tuition-free, Orion Youth Orchestra.

*Administrative fee required to secure your enrollment in Virtuoso.
